About the Project
The Department of Geophysics, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, is recruiting Project Associate-I candidates for the project titled:
“Comprehensive Verification and Evaluation of Model Energetics for Seasonal to Sub-seasonal Scale over Eastern Uttar Pradesh”
The project is supported under Monsoon Mission III by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).
The project was sanctioned for three years on 10 June 2025.

Project Associate-I – 02 Posts
The positions are purely temporary and will remain co-terminus with the project.
Essential Qualification
Candidates should have an M.Sc./M.Tech. with at least 60% marks in any of the following disciplines:
- Atmospheric Science
- Meteorology
- Physics
- Mathematics
- Geophysics with Meteorology as specialization
Desirable Skills
Preference will be given to candidates having knowledge of computer programming and experience with relevant scientific software/tools, including:
- Linux
- Python
- MATLAB
- NCL
- GrADS
- CDO
- R
Salary / Emoluments
The emoluments vary according to the candidate’s qualification and whether they qualify through the specified national-level examination route.
1st and 2nd Year

| Other eligible candidates | ₹30,000 + HRA |
The specified qualifying examinations include CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship, GATE, and national-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/institutions.
3rd Year

Age Limit
The maximum age is 35 years as on the date of advertisement.
Age relaxation for Female, SC, ST and Physically Handicapped candidates will be applicable as per Government of India rules.
