Project Title
“Development of a Novel Formate-Based Injection Method for Enhanced Carbon Storage and Oil Recovery in Cambay Basin Oil Fields: Supporting Energy Security and Net-Zero Goals”
About the Research Project
The ANRF-sponsored research project aims to develop a formate-based injection method for enhanced oil recovery and carbon storage in Cambay Basin oil fields.
The selected JRF will work under the supervision of Dr. Neetish Kumar Maurya, Assistant Professor, Department of Petroleum Engineering, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
Essential Qualification
Candidates should possess any of the following:
- B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Petroleum Engineering or Chemical Engineering, or
- M.Sc. in Chemistry
Candidates must be GATE or NET qualified.
Desirable Qualifications
For Petroleum Engineering Candidates
Knowledge or experience in:
- Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)
- Reservoir simulation
For Chemistry / Chemical Engineering Candidates
Knowledge of:
- Basic chemistry of salt
- Surfactants
- Polymers
Job Responsibilities
The selected JRF will contribute to research activities including:
- Designing different formate-based chemical slugs for enhanced oil recovery and carbon sequestration.
- Evaluating different injection schemes.
- Studying their synergy with other chemical EOR methods.
JRF Fellowship
The fellowship structure is:

| Third Year | ₹42,000/month + applicable HRA |
The third-year fellowship is subject to satisfactory performance.
Project Tenure
The appointment will initially be for one year.
It may subsequently be extended up to:
3 years / completion of the project, subject to applicable conditions.
Ph.D. Opportunity
The selected candidate may be permitted to register for the Ph.D. programme at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, subject to Institute rules.
The position may also be converted into a regular Institute JRF if the candidate is admitted to the Ph.D. programme.
Age Limit
Maximum Age: 28 years at the time of appointment.
Age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Female candidates as per Government of India/DST rules, as stated in the supplied recruitment information.
