About the Institute

Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur is an Institute of National Importance under the Government of India. Established in 1856, it is one of the oldest engineering institutions in India. In 2014, the former Bengal Engineering and Science University was converted into IIEST through an Act of Parliament. The institute currently houses 16 academic departments, 8 schools, over 250 faculty members, and more than 4,000 students, making it one of India’s premier engineering and research institutions.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

• Ph.D. in the relevant discipline from a recognized University/Institute
• First Class in all preceding degrees from Bachelor’s level onwards
• Candidates who obtained Ph.D. directly after B.E./B.Tech. are also eligible

• Department-specific qualifications and specializations as prescribed in the official notification must be satisfied.

Experience Requirements

Assistant Professor Grade II (Academic Level 10)

• No prior experience required

Assistant Professor Grade I (Academic Level 12)

Candidates should possess either:

• Minimum 3 years of experience after Ph.D.

OR

• Minimum 6 years of total teaching and research experience in:
  • Reputed academic institutions
  • R&D laboratories
  • Relevant industry

Associate Professor

• Experience requirements as per Institute and Government of India norms

Professor

• Experience requirements as per Institute and Government of India norms
