Job Details
The available position is Student Counsellor. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing counselling and support to students, particularly those in the 18–28 age group, as well as adult students above 28 years of age.
The counsellor will serve as a point of contact for students requiring interpersonal and emotional counselling. The position also involves developing suitable counselling programmes, coordinating with professional volunteer agencies and hospitals, conducting workshops and group discussions, and supporting students with their academic, interpersonal and emotional needs.
The counsellor will be expected to maintain confidentiality while reporting extreme cases requiring institutional or family intervention to the Competent Authority. The role may also involve administrative responsibilities assigned by the institute. Proficiency in computer operations is essential.
Educational Qualification and Experience
Candidates must meet any one of the following eligibility conditions:
- B.A./B.Sc. in Psychology with a Diploma/Certificate in Counselling and a minimum of 3 years of experience providing counselling to students at educational institutions.
- M.A./M.Sc. in Psychology with a minimum of 2 years of experience providing counselling to students at educational institutions.
- MBBS with Master’s Degree/Diploma in Psychiatric Medicine and a minimum of 1 year of experience providing counselling to students at educational institutions.
Experience in educational institutions of national repute such as IITs, NITs or IIITs will be considered an advantage.
Candidates should be capable of working independently and possess excellent communication, interpersonal and multitasking abilities. Good oral and written communication skills in English and Hindi are essential.
An additional qualification in Mental Health or Counselling is desirable.
Salary
The selected Student Counsellor will receive a consolidated salary of Rs. 60,000 per month.
Job Responsibilities
The Student Counsellor will be responsible for active counselling of students and adults, particularly in relation to interpersonal and emotional concerns. Key responsibilities include developing student counselling programmes, coordinating with professional agencies and hospitals, conducting workshops and talks, organizing group discussions, maintaining confidentiality and identifying cases requiring institutional or family intervention.
The counsellor will also undertake administrative duties assigned by the institute and must have good computer proficiency.
