Organization Profile: In November 1961, the Indian government, in partnership with the Ford Foundation, the West Bengal government, the Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), and Indian industry, founded the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC), the country’s first national center for post-graduate studies and research in management. Its core comprised some well-known faculty members in its early years, including Jagdish Sheth and J. K. Sengupta.

Qualification: The candidate must be a distinguished academic who has earned a Ph.D. or its equivalent from a recognized university, as well as first-class degrees at the bachelor’s and master’s degree levels. The candidate must have worked as a full professor at a reputable institution for at least 7 (seven) years and have at least 15 (fifteen) years of teaching or research experience. Alternatively, the candidate must have at least 15 (fifteen) years of higher-level industrial experience. The candidate must be either an Indian national or an Indian national living abroad (OCI). The IIM Act 2017 & IIM (Amendment) Act, 2023, IIM Rules 2018, IIM (Amendment) Rules, 2022 & IIM (Amendment) Rules, 2023, and IIMC Regulations, where applicable, will serve as guidelines for the appointment tenure and performance evaluation.
