About the Position

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for 01 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under an ANRF-sponsored research project.

The project focuses on the development of a reconfigurable cable-driven parallel robot for house construction, providing an opportunity to work in robotics, mechanical systems, automation and advanced robotic technologies.

Position Overview

Project Title

“Development of a Reconfigurable Cable-Driven Parallel Robot for House Construction”

The research will involve the design and development of robotic systems suitable for construction applications, with emphasis on cable-driven parallel robots, automation, mechanical system design and robotics.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess qualifications as prescribed in the project advertisement, including:

• B.Tech./M.Tech., as applicable.
• Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in relevant areas such as:
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Related engineering disciplines
• First Class in both UG and PG programmes.
• Valid GATE/NET qualification for the JRF position.

Alternative Eligibility

Candidates holding a Master’s Degree in Engineering from a Centrally Funded Institute and admitted through a national-level examination may also be considered subject to the conditions specified in the official advertisement.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with:

• Research experience in Robotics.
• Mechanical system design experience.
• Knowledge of automation and control systems.
• Mechatronics experience.
• Experience with cable-driven or parallel robotic systems.
• Relevant laboratory/project experience.
• Strong technical and research aptitude.

Key Responsibilities

The selected JRF will be involved in:

• Research and development under the ANRF-sponsored project.
• Design and development of the proposed robotic system.

• Preparation of research publications.
• Other project-related activities assigned by the Principal Investigator.

PhD Opportunity

The selected JRF may get an opportunity to pursue Ph.D. at IIT Roorkee, subject to fulfilling the Institute’s applicable PhD admission requirements.

Salary / Fellowship

₹37,000 per month
