About the Position
The Department of Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru invites applications for 01 Research Associate-I (RA-I) position.
The selected researcher will work on a research project focused on deformation behaviour and microstructure–texture evolution in hexagonal close-packed (HCP) metallic materials.
The position involves advanced research in materials characterization, crystallography and quantitative texture analysis.
Project / Research Focus
Project Title
“Deformation Behaviour and Microstructure–Texture Evolution in Hexagonal Close-Packed (HCP) Metallic Materials.”
The research will focus on understanding deformation mechanisms and the relationship between microstructure and crystallographic texture in HCP metallic materials.
Essential Qualification
Candidates should possess:
- Ph.D. degree (awarded) in a relevant research area.
- Demonstrated research expertise in the deformation of hexagonal close-packed (HCP) materials.
Desirable Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in:
- Crystallographic texture measurement and analysis
- Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD)
- X-Ray Diffraction (XRD)
- Microstructural characterization
- Quantitative texture analysis
- Materials deformation studies
- Scientific and technical writing
- Research publication preparation
Key Responsibilities
The selected Research Associate-I will be expected to:
- Conduct research on deformation mechanisms in HCP metallic materials.
- Perform crystallographic characterization.
- Conduct microstructural analysis.
- Undertake EBSD and XRD-based texture measurements.
- Analyse microstructure–texture evolution.
- Carry out quantitative interpretation of research data.
- Prepare technical reports and scientific documentation.

Salary / Fellowship
₹58,000 per month + HRA
The remuneration will be provided according to applicable IISc/Institute norms.
