In 2006, UGC upgraded it to KL College of Engineering Autonomous, and in 2009, UGC, MHRD Govt. of India, declared it a Deemed to be University. The institution was first accredited by NAAC in 2012 as a Deemed University with an A grade. It was later re-accredited by NAAC in 2018 with an A++ grade.
