About College: Founded in 1964 as a joint venture between the Governments of Tamil Nadu and India, the National Institute of Technology (NIT Trichy) (formerly known as Regional Engineering College) Tiruchirappalli is located in the heart of Tamil Nadu on the banks of the Cauvery River. Its purpose is to meet the nation’s need for technological labor. In order to facilitate its quick development, the College has since been granted independence in terms of finances and administration. The University Grants Commission, the All India Council for Technical Education, and the Indian government approved the institution’s granting of Deemed University Status in 2003 due to its extensive experience, and it was renamed the National Institute of Technology.
