Essential Qualifications

Candidates must satisfy any one of the following eligibility criteria:

Academic Qualification

• Served as or fulfills the eligibility criteria for Professor/Associate Professor as prescribed by UGC.
• Possesses substantial teaching and research experience in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

Legal Professional

• IPR Attorney with a minimum of 10 years of practice in Intellectual Property Rights law.
• Any other recognized professional with at least 10 years of significant experience in the field of Intellectual Property Rights.

Retired Government Official

• Retired official from the IP Office under CGPDTM.
• Holds a Doctoral Degree.
• Minimum 5 years of service at Level 12 or above, such as:
  • Controller of Patents & Designs
  • Registrar of Trademarks & Geographical Indications
  • Registrar of Copyrights

Age Limit

• Applicants above 70 years of age are not eligible for appointment.

Salary Details

Full-Time IPR Chair

• ₹1,50,000 per month (Consolidated)

Additional Charge Basis

• ₹25,000 per month (Honorarium)

Annual Increment

• 3% annual increment after completion of every 12 months of service.

Tenure

• Appointment for a maximum period of 5 years.
• The IPR Chair Scheme may be extended by another 5 years based on approval.
• Additional Charge appointments are limited to one year.

Selection Process

The IPR Chair will be nominated by a three-member committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor. One committee member must be an external Intellectual Property expert with at least 10 years of experience. The recommendation will be forwarded to DPIIT for approval before appointment.
