Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, has invited applications for the position of Junior Coaching Assistant through its Non-Faculty Recruitment process. Eligible candidates with a graduation degree and recognized coaching diploma in the relevant sport, along with the required coaching experience, can apply online before 03 September 2026.

About IIT (ISM) Dhanbad

The Indian School of Mines was formally opened on 9 December 1926 by Lord Irwin, the then Viceroy of India, to address the need for trained manpower in mining-related activities. The institution initially focused on Mining and Applied Geology.

In 1967, the institute was granted deemed-to-be-university status under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Since its establishment, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has expanded significantly and has developed into a comprehensive technology education and research institute.

Junior Coaching Assistant Vacancy

The Junior Coaching Assistant will be responsible for providing coaching and training in the relevant sport and supporting the development of students and sports activities at the institute.

Essential Qualification

Candidates should meet either of the following eligibility routes:

Route 1:
Graduation in any subject along with a Diploma in Coaching with a minimum of 55% marks from SAI/NS-NIS or another recognized institution in the relevant sport.

Route 2 – International Sports Persons:
Candidates should have 10+2 qualification along with a Diploma in Coaching with a minimum of 55% marks from SAI/NS-NIS or another recognized institution in the relevant sport.

International sports persons should also have participated in any of the following competitions:

  1. Olympic Games
  2. Senior World Championship
  3. Asian Games/Senior Asian Championship
  4. Commonwealth Games/Senior Commonwealth Championship
  5. Youth Olympics

Experience

Candidates should possess at least two years of experience in coaching the relevant sport in a recognized institution or organization.

Preference may be given to candidates having relevant experience in reputed higher educational institutions, particularly in coaching or training students.

Pay Scale

The Junior Coaching Assistant position carries Pay Level – 3 as per the applicable pay structure.

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be expected to support sports coaching and training activities at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. Responsibilities may include coaching students in the relevant sport, conducting training sessions, supporting sports development programmes, monitoring student performance, and contributing to institutional sports activities.

The candidate may also assist in organizing training schedules, competitions, practice sessions, and other sports-related activities as assigned by the institute.

Selection and Recruitment Conditions

Candidates must ensure that they satisfy all eligibility requirements before submitting their applications. Applications received after the closing date or applications containing incomplete information or missing supporting documents will be rejected.

Candidates may initially submit the application without an NOC, but such an application will be treated as an advance copy. The NOC must be submitted during the selection/document verification process. Failure to provide the required NOC may result in cancellation of candidature.
