Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh has invited applications from eligible candidates for temporary research positions under an ICSSR-sponsored research project titled “Translating Regional Language Environmental Literature into English.” The recruitment includes positions for Research Associate and Field Investigator.
Candidates with academic backgrounds in English, Translation Studies, Social Sciences, Environmental Humanities and allied disciplines can apply for the relevant position. The selected candidates will work on the research project associated with Application No. ICSSR-RMM-2025-5667.
1. Research Associate
Essential Qualification
Candidates applying for the Research Associate position should possess a postgraduate degree in any of the following or an allied discipline:
- English
- Translation Studies
- Social Sciences
- Allied disciplines
Candidates should have secured a minimum of 55% marks.
For candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories, the minimum marks requirement is 50%, as specified in the recruitment details.
In addition to the postgraduate qualification, candidates should have NET/M.Phil/Ph.D. and at least two years of research experience.
Remuneration
₹47,000 per month (fixed)
The Research Associate position is temporary and will be associated with the requirements and duration of the sponsored research project.
2. Field Investigator
AMU is also recruiting a Field Investigator for the same research project.
Essential Qualification
Candidates may apply with a Postgraduate degree in:
- English
- Translation Studies
- Social Sciences
- Allied disciplines
with a minimum of 55% marks.
Alternatively, candidates possessing a Graduate degree in English, Translation Studies, Environmental Humanities, Social Sciences or an allied discipline with a minimum of 55% marks may also apply.
For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the minimum marks requirement is 50%.
Preference will be given to candidates having completed a four-year graduation programme / BA (FYUP).
Remuneration
The position is temporary and will be subject to the requirements of the research project.
About the Research Project
The project, “Translating Regional Language Environmental Literature into English,” focuses on the translation and study of environmental literature produced in regional Indian languages.
The project provides an opportunity for researchers with interests in translation studies, English literature, environmental humanities and social sciences to contribute to academic research involving regional-language literature and environmental themes.
Candidates with relevant research experience and academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply for the position for which they meet the prescribed eligibility requirements.
