Central University of Punjab (CUP), Bathinda has invited eligible candidates to attend a walk-in interaction-cum-interview for the position of Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) under a temporary research project in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products.

The recruitment is being conducted for a research project titled “Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Histone Deacetylase-Proteolysis Targeting Chimeras (HDAC-PROTACs) as Therapeutic Agents for Lung and Kidney Cancer.” Candidates with relevant qualifications and expertise in medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, PROTAC design and anticancer research can attend the interview.

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the Project Research Scientist-I position should possess a B.Pharmacy degree along with a Master’s degree in M.Pharm/M.S. (Pharm.) in Medicinal Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized Indian or foreign university/institute.

The minimum marks requirement is relaxed to 55% for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwD candidates, as specified in the recruitment details.

Applicants should also have qualified GPAT or any other equivalent national-level entrance examination.

Desired Research Expertise

The position requires candidates with relevant expertise in areas associated with medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. Candidates should preferably have knowledge or experience in:

  • Multistep organic synthesis
  • Purification techniques
  • Small-molecule design
  • PROTAC design

Research Project

The selected candidate will work on the project focused on developing and evaluating HDAC-PROTACs as potential therapeutic agents for lung and kidney cancer.

PROTAC-based drug discovery is an emerging research area involving targeted protein degradation. The project combines medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, computational techniques and biological evaluation to investigate novel anticancer therapeutic candidates.

The selected researcher will contribute to the experimental and research activities associated with the project.

Salary

The selected candidate will receive:

₹56,000 + 10% HRA per month

The remuneration is specified for the first two years, with a 5% increment in the third year, as per applicable ICMR norms.

The appointment will remain subject to the duration, requirements and terms of the sponsored research project.
