University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has invited applications from eligible candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a research project on the predictability of the summer monsoon over Central India. The recruitment is for a temporary research position and is suitable for candidates with postgraduate or engineering qualifications in atmospheric sciences, earth sciences, physics, mathematics, computer science and related disciplines.
The project specifically focuses on the latest version of India’s dynamical prediction system and its ability to predict the summer monsoon over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Educational Qualification
Candidates applying for the JRF position should possess a Postgraduate Degree (M.Sc./M.Tech.) in any of the following disciplines:

- Earth System Science
- Meteorology
- Geophysics

- Mathematics
- Statistics
- Computer Science
Candidates holding B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech. degrees in relevant engineering disciplines may also apply. The eligible engineering areas include:

Project Work
The selected JRF will work on research concerning the predictability of the Indian summer monsoon using the latest version of India’s dynamical prediction system.
The research has a particular focus on Central India, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The project may involve areas such as climate modelling, atmospheric data analysis, numerical prediction, computational methods and interpretation of monsoon-related datasets.

Salary / Fellowship
The fellowship remuneration is:
First 2 Years:
₹37,000 per month + 20% HRA as JRF
Third Year:
₹42,000 per month + 20% HRA as Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
Subject to the applicable project and fellowship rules, the selected candidate may continue as SRF during the third year.
