Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGU) is a Central University located in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The university was established under the Central Universities Act, 2009 (No. 25 of 2009). Originally established as Guru Ghasidas University by an Act of the State Legislative Assembly, the institution was formally inaugurated on 16 June 1983.

GGU is an active member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). The university has been accredited with a B+ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

General Eligibility

Assistant Professor

Candidates should have:

  • A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a relevant/allied subject from a recognized Indian university or an equivalent foreign university qualification.
  • UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/SLET/SET qualification, as applicable, or a Ph.D. awarded in accordance with the applicable UGC regulations.
  • Candidates holding qualifying Ph.D. degrees from foreign universities/institutions ranked among the top 500 in recognized global rankings such as QS, Times Higher Education (THE), or ARWU may also be eligible as per the applicable provisions.

The notification also specifies exemptions from NET/SLET/SET for certain candidates who registered for Ph.D. programmes before 11 July 2009, subject to fulfillment of prescribed conditions relating to regular-mode Ph.D., thesis evaluation, viva voce, research publications and conference presentations.

Associate Professor

Candidates should possess:

  • A good academic record with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.
  • A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of teaching and/or research experience in an academic/research position equivalent to Assistant Professor.
  • Minimum 7 publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
  • A minimum research score of 75 as prescribed under the applicable UGC regulations.

Professor

Candidates should meet one of the prescribed eligibility routes.

Route A:

  • Ph.D. in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.
  • High-quality published research with at least 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
  • Minimum research score of 120 as prescribed under the applicable UGC regulations.
  • At least 10 years of teaching experience at University/College level and/or equivalent research experience.
  • Evidence of successfully guiding doctoral candidates.

Route B:

Outstanding professionals with a Ph.D. in a relevant/allied/applied discipline and significant contributions to knowledge in the concerned field may also be considered, subject to the prescribed 10 years of professional experience and documentary evidence.

Engineering and Technology Discipline

Assistant Professor

  • B.E./B.Tech./B.S. and M.E./M.Tech./M.S. or Integrated M.Tech. in the relevant branch.
  • First Class or equivalent in at least one of the degrees.

Associate Professor

  • Ph.D. in the relevant field.
  • First Class or equivalent at either Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the relevant branch.
  • At least 6 research publications in SCI/UGC/AICTE-approved journals.
  • Minimum 8 years of teaching/research/industry experience, including at least 2 years of post-Ph.D. experience.

Professor

  • Ph.D. in the relevant field.
  • First Class or equivalent at either Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the relevant branch.
  • Minimum 10 years of teaching/research/industry experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience at a position equivalent to Associate Professor.

Management / Business Administration Discipline

Assistant Professor

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration / PGDM / C.A. / ICWA / M.Com.
  • First Class or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience after acquiring the Master’s degree.

Associate Professor

  • Ph.D. in the relevant field.
  • First Class or equivalent at Bachelor’s or Master’s level.
  • At least 6 research publications in SCI/UGC/AICTE-approved journals.
  • Minimum 8 years of teaching/research/industry experience, including at least 2 years post-Ph.D. experience.

Professor

  • Ph.D. in the relevant field.
  • First Class or equivalent at Bachelor’s or Master’s level.
  • Minimum 10 years of teaching/research/industry experience, including at least 3 years at a position equivalent to Associate Professor.
  • At least 6 research publications at Associate Professor level and at least 2 successful Ph.D. supervisions/co-supervisions; or at least 10 research publications at Associate Professor level, as specified in the notification.

Selection Process

Applications will be scrutinized by a Screening Committee, and candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on the requirements of the respective positions.
