Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) Pilani, Pilani Campus, has invited applications for 01 Junior Research Fellow / Ph.D. Research Fellow position under a collaborative research project between BITS Pilani and IIT Roorkee.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to enrol in the full-time Ph.D. programme at BITS Pilani and will work on research related to physics-informed neuromorphic systems, smart sensing and predictive intelligence. The project provides an opportunity to undertake research at both BITS Pilani and IIT Roorkee.

Project Title
“Physics-Informed Neuromorphic Systems for Cross-Layer Optimized Smart Sensing and Predictive Intelligence”
The research project is being carried out collaboratively by BITS Pilani and IIT Roorkee.

Essential Qualifications
Candidates should possess an M.E./M.Tech. in any of the following areas:
- Electronics Communication Engineering
- Instrumentation Engineering
- Computer Science and Engineering
- Microelectronics
- Nanoelectronics
- VLSI Design
OR
An M.Sc. in:
- Electronics
- Computer Science
- Physics
Candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognized university or institute.
Preferred Qualification
Candidates with a valid GATE/NET qualification will be preferred, wherever applicable.
Research Work / Job Responsibilities
The selected Research Fellow will be involved in experimental and simulation-based research activities, including:
- Data collection
- Materials synthesis
- Materials characterization
- Device fabrication
- Device testing
- Simulation and experimental studies
- Prototype device design and development
- Preparation of research papers
- Publication in indexed journals
- Presentation of research findings at conferences
- Patent-related research outputs
Fellowship and Contingency Grant
The selected candidate will receive:
Fellowship: ₹37,000 per month + HRA
Annual Contingency Grant: ₹20,000
The fellowship and other project benefits will be subject to applicable institutional and project rules.
Ph.D. Registration Opportunity
The selected candidate will have an opportunity to pursue a full-time Ph.D. programme at BITS Pilani, subject to the applicable admission and academic requirements of the Institute.

Research Stay at IIT Roorkee
As part of the collaborative research project, the selected candidate will conduct research at BITS Pilani and will also be required to spend time at IIT Roorkee during the Ph.D. tenure.
The candidate may be required to spend a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 24 months at IIT Roorkee as part of the collaborative research activities.
Project Tenure
The project tenure is 5 years, along with enrolment in the BITS Pilani Ph.D. programme.
Continuation will be subject to applicable institutional regulations, academic requirements and project conditions.
