About Organization:
The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi, Kerala, has announced recruitment for the post of Professor in the Department of Law. The position is being offered on a permanent basis. Eligible candidates with a Ph.D., substantial teaching or research experience, strong research publications and the prescribed research score can apply through postal mode. The National University of Advanced Legal Studies was established through Act 27 of 2005 of the Kerala State Legislature. The university was formed following the merger of the National Institute for Advanced Legal Studies with NUALS. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Sections 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act and is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Job Details
The available position is Professor in the Department of Law. The appointment is permanent and will be made in accordance with the applicable UGC norms.
Educational Qualification – Category A
Candidates should be an eminent scholar with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned, allied or relevant discipline.
Applicants should have published high-quality research and be actively engaged in research, with evidence of at least 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a minimum research score of 120, as prescribed under Appendix II, Table 2 of the UGC Regulations, 2018.
Candidates must also have a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in a University or College at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, and/or equivalent research experience at a University or National-level Institution.
Applicants should also have evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates.
Educational Qualification – Category B
Outstanding professionals with a Ph.D. degree in the relevant, allied or applied discipline from an academic institution or industry may also be considered, provided they have made a significant contribution to knowledge in the relevant field and can support the contribution with documentary evidence.
Such candidates must possess 10 years of professional experience.
Pay Scale
The selected Professor will be appointed at Academic Level 14, with a rationalized entry pay of Rs. 1,44,200 per month under the UGC pay scale.

Interested and eligible candidates must download the prescribed application form from the NUALS official website and submit the completed application through postal mode.
Candidates are required to submit three sets of soft-bound hard copies of the duly completed application. The application should include an index page, and all pages should be serially numbered. Applicants must also enclose the prescribed registration fee and self-attested copies of certificates supporting their age, caste/community, educational qualifications, experience and other relevant credentials.
The completed application should reach the Registrar on or before 3 September 2026.
In addition to the hard-copy application, candidates must send a soft copy of the application by email to recruitment@nuals.ac.in. The scanned application must be a clear, colour-scanned single PDF file, with a maximum file size of 20 MB and minimum resolution of 100 DPI. The soft copy must follow the exact order of the hard-copy application. Candidates should not use mobile-camera photographs for creating the scanned PDF.
