The recruitment is for Assistant Professor positions in the following broad academic areas:
1. Mechanical Engineering
Specializations include Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer-Integrated Manufacturing and CAD/CAM.
2. Fire & Safety Engineering
Areas include Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Dynamics, Fire Risk Analysis, Computational Fire Modelling, Fire Science and Fire Investigation, Structural Fire Engineering, Risk Assessment and Prevention, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety and Hazard Management, Safety Engineering and Analytics, Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness, and Fire Risk Management.
3. Electrical & Electronics Engineering
Specializations include Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Electric Vehicle Engineering/E-Mobility, High Voltage Engineering, Electric Drives, Power and Energy Systems, Renewable Energy Systems and AI/ML Algorithms in Electrical Engineering.
4. Electronics, Communication & Instrumentation
Relevant areas include Control Systems, Robotics, Instrumentation, Applied Electronics, Embedded Systems, Sensors and IoT, VLSI Systems, Communication Systems, Biomedical Instrumentation and Industrial Automation.
5. Computer Science & Engineering
Candidates specializing in Cloud Computing, Software Engineering, Data Science, Operating Systems, Scripting Languages, Database Management Systems, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Computer Programming can apply.
6. Humanities & English
The recruitment also covers Professional Communication Skills, Humanities, Economics, Psychology and Sociology.
Eligibility Criteria
The minimum qualification for the faculty positions is a Ph.D. in the appropriate branch or discipline, along with First Class or equivalent at the preceding degree level and a very good academic record throughout.
For Engineering disciplines, candidates are required to possess a B.Tech. degree in the relevant discipline.
For Humanities & English, candidates applying in English should possess a Ph.D. in English. For Economics, Psychology and Sociology, the respective subject is required to have been studied at the bachelor’s degree level as specified in the recruitment requirements.
Age Limit
The maximum age limit is 35 years as on 31 August 2026. Age relaxation may be considered in exceptional cases, while relaxation for reserved-category candidates will be applicable according to Government of India rules.
Pay Scale and Salary
The Assistant Professor position is offered under Academic Pay Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
Pay Scale: ₹57,700 – ₹98,200
Entry Basic Pay: ₹70,900 per month
In addition to basic pay, selected candidates may receive applicable Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, HRA or suitable campus accommodation, LTC, medical reimbursement, children’s education allowance, telephone reimbursement and professional development support, as per Government and institute rules.
A Cumulative Professional Development Allowance (CPDA) may also be available for books, national conferences and international conferences. Higher initial pay may be considered for exceptionally qualified and deserving candidates, subject to applicable rules.
Job Responsibilities
Selected Assistant Professors will contribute to the teaching, research and academic development of RGIPT. Responsibilities may include teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, developing independent research programmes, undertaking research projects and publishing research findings.
Faculty members may also participate in national and international conferences, curriculum development, departmental activities, interdisciplinary research and institutional initiatives. Depending on the discipline, faculty may also participate in training activities at operating oil production units, including onshore and offshore facilities and refineries.
