The institute has been accorded the status of an Institute of National Importance and is promoted by leading Oil Public Sector Units including ONGC, IOCL, OIL, GAIL, BPCL and HPCL, in association with the Oil Industry Development Board.

Essential Qualifications
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. with first class or equivalent grade at the preceding degree level in the appropriate branch, along with a very good academic record throughout their education.
Engineering Disciplines
Candidates applying for engineering disciplines must also possess a B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline.
Humanities & English
Candidates applying for Humanities & English must have:
- Ph.D. in English
- Economics, Psychology, and Sociology as mandatory subjects in their Bachelor’s degree
Age Limit
The upper age limit for Assistant Professor (Academic Pay Level 10) is 35 years as on 31st August 2026.
Age relaxation may be considered in exceptional cases. Reserved category candidates will receive age relaxation as per applicable Government of India guidelines.
Salary & Benefits
Post: Assistant Professor (Grade-II)
Academic Pay Level: Level 10
Pay Scale: ₹57,700 – ₹98,200
Entry Basic Pay: ₹70,900/- per month
In addition to basic pay, selected candidates will be eligible for Dearness Allowance (DA), Transport Allowance, and other benefits as per Central Government and Institute rules.
